Triple the Impact: Announcing First-Ever ChattState Give Day on April 24 to Help Students with Financial Needs in Partnership with Unum Group

CHATTANOOGA, TN – The Chattanooga State Foundation is thrilled to unveil its inaugural ChattState Give Day, scheduled for Wednesday, April 24, 2024. This unprecedented event is made possible owing to a generous partnership with Unum Group, a frontrunner in corporate benefits and services.

Tripling Donations with Unum Group

The day will provide a distinctive platform for donors to triple the impact of their contributions through a 2:1 match by Unum Group. Funds generated will go directly towards supporting student success by diminishing financial obstacles. This implies that Unum Group will donate two dollars for every dollar donated by alumni, parents, friends, and other corporations and organisations. They are committed to match any donation size up to $5,000 per gift and have pledged an overall corporate donation of up to $30,000 to optimise community participation in this student success initiative.

Cary Olson Cartwright, AVP, Corp Social Responsibility, Unum Group, encouraged the community to partake the ChattState Give Day. “We want to ignite collective efforts to empower students and strengthen our community. Each contribution, whether small or large, makes a difference and paves the way for student success”, she said.

The Motive Behind ChattState Give Day

The proceeds from the Give Day will replenish funds for three vital initiatives: Tiger Cupboard, Helping Hands Fund, and the SkillsUSA Fund programs.

The Tiger Cupboard

The Tiger Cupboard is the college’s food pantry that provides food access to the campus community. Last year, it successfully addressed the food needs of 255 students.

Helping Hands Fund

Offering emergency financial support to students, the Helping Hands Fund disbursed over $33,000 and attended nearly 100 requests last year.

SkillsUSA Fund

The SkillsUSA Fund ensures students’ participation in state and national skills-based competitions, avoiding any financial constraint. Students gain impactful tools such as job opportunities, scholarships, and grants through their involvement in SkillsUSA competitions.

“We aim to raise $45,000 or more in just 24 hours. Every gift brings us closer to ensuring that no financial obstacles stand in the way of student success. With the generous partnership with Unum Group, we can help even more students in need,” said Nancy Patterson, Vice President of College Advancement and Public Relations.
