Excitement Builds for Cherry Street Tavern Concert!

This evening, for only $10 if you buy in advance, you can catch the thrilling performance of Sunny War headlining a concert organized by students from UTC’s A Moc’s First Year (AMFY) class. The show kicks off at Cherry Street Tavern at 6:00 p.m., with a sensational pop-punk band named I Before E opening the night to get everyone in the spirit!

Sunny War is not just any musician. She brings a unique twist to the stage with her eclectic clawhammer guitar technique that fuses her California punk roots with a touch of folksy, acoustic vibes. The band I Before E features talented musicians — Brennan Buzinkai on drums, David James Dalton on guitar and vocals, and Walt Staszewski on bass and vocals. According to the guys, “Almost everyone in Chattanooga is supportive and welcoming of new bands!” It sounds like this is going to be a fantastic night.
New Beginnings with AMFY
This concert is part of a special project by UTC’s Department of Communication, aimed at welcoming freshmen and helping them explore the campus and city. It’s the first year for the AMFY program, and students like Aiden Turner are loving the experience. “This is the first year that UTC has done the A Moc’s First Year program, and it has been a lot of fun getting to work together to plan this event,” Aiden shared.
Meanwhile, Dr. Chandler Harriss, the mastermind behind this initiative, emphasized, “For me, the most important part of this course is having fun. I wanted to combine that with an introduction to certain aspects of the Communication Department’s flexible major.” Sounds like a win-win!
A Venue on the Rise
The Cherry Street Tavern is becoming a hotspot for live music, thanks to its owner, Marty Bohannon. Marty and his brother Matt not only manage this buzzing venue, but they’re also known for their own band, The Bohannons, whose tunes resonate with the heart of the region. The Tavern regularly hosts various artists, and now the future stars of Chattanooga are set to grace its stage.
