CLEVELAND, Tenn. — In the aftermath of Hurricane Helene, the heartwarming spirit of community has come alive in our area as residents come together to help those affected by the devastating storm. Efforts are underway to collect much-needed supplies and funds for victims, proving that even in the darkest of times, people can shine bright with kindness.
One of the most exciting initiatives is being spearheaded by a local radio station in Bradley County, teaming up with a dedicated relief organization. They are planning a Hurricane Helene Relief Broadcast scheduled for Tuesday morning. The broadcast aims to raise both funds and supplies for those on the front lines. From 7 a.m. to 10 a.m., listeners can tune in and contribute at the Life Care Centers of America Corporate Plaza, located at 3750 Keith Street NW in Cleveland.
But here’s the deal—used clothing is not on the donation list. This may sound surprising, but it’s because clothing can create major logistical challenges when quickly providing relief. The organizers are emphasizing that the most important contributions right now are cash and items like cleaning supplies. Cash donations can help buy these essentials directly for those in need.
If you’re planning to stop by the broadcast, here’s what the community is encouraging you to bring:
If you can’t make it to the broadcast, don’t worry! You can still contribute by calling Operation Compassion at 423-728-3932 to schedule a drop-off time at their warehouse.
Meanwhile, closer to home in Soddy-Daisy, firefighters are joining the fight against despair by leading a collection drive. They’re hoping to fill as many as three trailers with supplies destined for hurricane victims. We visited the scene earlier on Monday, and it was heartening to see how the community is stepping up. Residents are donating cleaning materials and non-perishable foods, rallying together to show their support.
Although various organizations and businesses across the region are organizing donation drives, challenges with damaged infrastructure are slowing down transport to the affected areas. But rest assured, every hand counts, and there are still numerous ways you can help.
In addition to the aforementioned efforts, if you’re looking to lend a hand through other channels, various legitimate organizations are actively seeking donations. Engaging with these local efforts means that your contributions will directly help those who are in dire need of assistance as they start to rebuild their lives.
This story is just getting started, and we will continue to update you as more information becomes available. Every action, big or small, can make a difference, and right now, the people of Cleveland and surrounding areas have an incredible opportunity to show their compassion and support.
As we walk together through this challenging time, let’s keep the spirit of giving alive. Your help could brighten someone’s day and bring hope back to those recovering from Hurricane Helene.
