Cloudland at McLemore Resort Elevates Chattanooga’s Hospitality Scene

New Hotel on Lookout Mountain Welcomes First Guests

Today marks a significant milestone in Chattanooga’s hospitality scene as the opulent Cloudland at McLemore Resort officially opens its doors. Nestled on the side of Lookout Mountain, the establishment promises to offer breathtaking views of McLemore Cove and Pigeon Mountain.

Distinct Combination of Scenic Views and Luxury

Designed to be a destination hotel, Cloudland at McLemore Resort is part of the prestigious Curio Collection by Hilton. Exclusive associates of this collection comprise 162 other five-star luxury properties scattered in 40 countries worldwide. This new addition to Chattanooga’s hotel scene notably enhances the city’s appeal as a travel destination.

The resort is envisioned and developed by Duane Horton, President of Scenic Land Company. Started 17 years ago, the planning and design endured multiple modifications, prioritizing the integration of the property into its surroundings while maximizing the views available.

Signature “Castle Doors” and Captivating Interiors

Architecture firm Tinker Ma has conjured an awe-inspiring entrance to the hotel with large “castle doors.” The doors, fashioned after ancient Scottish castles, conceal the breathtaking panoramic views until opened. Directly opposite these doors are floor-to-ceiling glass walls showcasing the beauty of the mountain’s brow.

The hotel’s design focuses on the seamless blending of the indoors with the outdoors. The minimalist, casual, and comfortable spaces are accentuated by materials such as wood, leather, slate, locally quarried mountain stone, and metal.
Photographs of local botanicals by Kim Hubbard add pops of color to the neutral hues of the interiors.

Exquisite Amenities and Exciting Outdoor Pursuits

Cloudland houses 245 rooms, including 19 lavish suites. It also offers an impressive library cum game room stocked with books ranging from classics to local interests. For business or special events, 20,000 square feet of space is available, which can be divided into six smaller spaces. It also offers six meeting rooms for smaller groups or breakout discussions.

Adding to its allure are three restaurants, a spa, wellness center, and two golf courses named McLemore Highlands Course and the soon-to-be-opened The Keep. Memberships and limited play per year are available for these golf courses. To complete the package, an outdoor pool with an infinity edge and a large hot tub offering the valley’s views is still under construction.

Besides golf, other outdoor pursuits guests can enjoy include hang gliding, hiking, rock climbing, and kayaking.

A New Attraction for Chattanooga

Last but not least, keen guests would appreciate that scenic Chattanooga is just a 45-minute drive along the top of Look
