The City Council agenda for the next Tuesday meeting has been announced, with a flurry of ordinances, resolutions, and appointments to be discussed. The meeting is set to be chaired by Chairman Henderson and will open with the Pledge of Allegiance and an invocation led by Councilwoman Dotley.
Significant items on the agenda include several ordinances related to public works and planning. BNTR SFOWNER, LLC, represented by Travis Allen, is mentioned in three ordinances. The first is requesting an abandonment of the unopened right-of-way in the 1700 block of Joiner Road, the second proposes to lift and amend conditions of properties located in the 1700 through 1900 blocks of Henegar Circle, and the third proposes to rezone parts of 1730 Gunbarrel Road and 1721 Joiner Road.
Additionally, a series of resolutions are set for discussion. They range from confirming the appointment of Daniel C. Wright to the (old) Sports Authority Board for District 9, to authorizing the Fire Department to apply for a funding grant for disease screening for firefighters from the Federal Emergency Management Agency (FEMA).
The meeting will feature significant planning and zoning items, including the adoption of several ordinances proposed by BNTR SFOWNER, LLC c/o Travis Allen. These address issues of zoning modification and conditions amends of various properties across the city.
The City Council meeting will also see numerous appointments and reappointments confirmed by Mayor Kelly, including Veronica Dunson’s appointment to the Beer Board and Brad Folsom’s appointment to the Construction Board of Adjustment and Appeals, along with a series of reappointments to the Wastewater Board of Appeals.
Under the Parks & Public Works section of the agenda, there are resolutions authorizing the Administrator for the Department of Public Works for various projects. These include an increase in budget for the new Fire Station #15 and a change order with Stantec Consulting Services for the Hamill Road Slope Stabilization Project.
The City Council continues to prioritize public engagement and communication, facilitating recognition of individuals wishing to address the Council as part of their standard meeting agenda. The Council’s dedication to transparency is upheld in the provision of upcoming proposed items for discussion.
The meeting appears set to be a busy one, with no recess and no scheduled ordinances for final reading. However, it’s clear that the City Council is focused on moving forward on various planning, public works, and fire services projects – a reflection of their commitment to enhance public amenities, residential conditions, firefighter safety, and overall city dwellers welfare. Adjournment will follow once all proposed agenda items have been adequately discussed and addressed.
