DeeAnn Oaks McDaniel, Renowned for Her Love and Compassion, Dies at 80

CHATTANOOGA, TN – DeeAnn Oaks McDaniel was well-loved for her gifts of hospitality and exceptional cooking abilities. Chattanooga city commemorates her loving spirit and sympathizes with her family in this challenging time. On Tuesday, April 9, 2024, DeeAnn returned peacefully to her heavenly home surrounded by her beloved family.

A Life Well Lived

Born on May 1, 1943, in Chattanooga, DeeAnn was the daughter of the late Dee J. Oaks and JoElla Pack Oaks. Her extraordinary life journey began here, leading her to grow into a strong and inspiring woman who dedicated her life to her family and friends.

DeeAnn and her husband, Bobby Ray McDaniel, recently celebrated their 62nd wedding anniversary on March 30, 2024. A loving wife, devoted mother, and adored grandmother, DeeAnn embraced her roles in life with grace and affection. Indeed, being a grandmother or as she liked to be called, “Mimi,” to her seven grandchildren, was something she cherished the most.

Throughout her life, DeeAnn remained a support system to the people around her. She was a caregiver at heart and invested many hours tending to those in need. Her immeasurable compassion and kindness will remain a treasured memory.

A Beacon of Light in The Community

DeeAnn’s immense love for the Lord was evident in her everyday life. She was a dedicated member of Concord Baptist Church where she actively served her community. Her unyielding faith and devotion continue to inspire many.

She carried her moniker of ‘homemaker’ with pride and took joy in creating delicious meals for her family. Her gestures of great hospitality will never be forgotten, leaving a void in the many hearts she touched.

Survivors Remember Her Fondly

DeeAnn’s memory will be carried forward by her husband, Bobby Ray McDaniel, their three daughters, seven grandchildren, and five great-grandchildren. Her family is grateful for the love and joy she brought into their lives, and her presence will be sorely missed.

Besides her immediate family, a special thank you was expressed towards Cheryl Baueghems and Hospice of Chattanooga for their diligent care provided to DeeAnn in her last days.

Tribute to a Loving Soul

DeeAnn’s interment services will take place on Monday, April 15, at 11 a.m. at Lakewood Memory Gardens, South with Dr. David King officiating. Prior to that, a visitation session was held on Sunday from 5-7 p.m. at Heritage Funeral Home, East Brainerd Chapel.

In DeeAnn’s memory, her family encourages donations to St. Jude Children’s Research Hospital in lieu of flowers to continue her legacy of caring and helping those in need.

Her life story will continue to inspire, bringing comfort to those who loved her. DeeAnn Oaks McDaniel was a beacon of love, faith, and compassion, and her absence will certainly be felt by this close-knit community. May her life be remembered and celebrated as a testament to her dedication to her faith, family, and community.
