On the opening evening of the Democratic National Convention in Chicago, former President Joe Biden took to the stage to not only endorse his successor, Vice President Kamala Harris, but also to recap his own period of success while serving in the nation’s highest office. Former Secretary of State Hillary Clinton graced the Democratic National Convention stage again, eight years after becoming the first woman to be a major party’s presidential nominee. During her address, she highlighted the historic potential of Kamala Harris becoming the first female president and the future of the country it could signify.
The discussion of abortion rights took central stage, with severe criticism aimed towards the former Republican administration’s conservative appointments to the Supreme Court, which have led to disturbances in the stability of the Roe v. Wade protections over abortion rights.
