Shots Fired in Dollar General Parking Lot: Chattanooga Man Charged with Attempted Murder
***CHATTANOOGA, Tenn.*** — A quiet afternoon took a wild turn last week at a ***Dollar General*** on ***Wilcox Boulevard***, leaving the community in shock and raising questions about safety and conflict resolution. The incident, which occurred on ***August 9th***, has resulted in charges of ***attempted first degree murder*** against a local man.
The Fight Inside Dollar General
According to an affidavit we’ve obtained, it all started with a major fight among several women that escalated from inside the store to the parking lot. One woman even used a ***baseball bat*** to smash a car’s windshield. Tensions were high, and the altercation showed no signs of slowing down.
Shooting in the Parking Lot
As some of the women were trying to leave the scene, chaos erupted. A ***white Kia*** pulled up, and a man—identified later as ***22-year-old Dicorious Mytayis Edwards***—was seen sitting in the passenger side window with his arm extended. Moments later, ***gunshots rang out***, and three bullets struck the car full of women.
Amazingly, none of the women in the vehicle were hit by the bullets, though the event has left them and bystanders shaken.
Identification and Charges
Witnesses on the scene were able to identify Edwards, leading to his arrest and subsequent charges for ***attempted first degree murder***. Police also indicated that they would pursue charges against some of the women involved in the fight, which was captured on camera.
