DRC Closes Its Doors on Thursday and Friday for Scheduled “Repairs”
Shift to Temporary Office – A necessary measure
The Development Resource Center (DRC), a one-stop platform for builders and developers located on South Market Street, announced it would be shuttered for the rest of the week, specifically, Thursday, July 25th and Friday, July 26th.
The office houses both county and city divisions and facilitates uninterrupted services for the community despite its temporary closure. During the assessment, it was determined that some vital repairs were due, leading to this decision.
All DRC staff have been asked to function either remotely or from nearby office facilities, ensuring that public services are not hampered.
Accuracy of Services Maintained
Each County and City Division housed within the DRC is implementing strict protocols to maintain the quality and consistency of services. They are enabling their staff to work remotely via telework or from alternate office facilities. Regular business hours will remain unaffected as confirmed by officials. Constituents are asked to contact the main telephone number of each respective division for inquiries during these times.
Dedicated Provision for Incoming Permit Requests
Despite the office closure, the Land Development Office will continue to accept incoming permit requests at this time. The temporary location for this function will be “Philip Grymes Outdoor Chattanooga Center, 200 River St.” Public hours here will be maintained on Thursday from 10 a.m. to 4 p.m and on Friday, from 8 a.m. to 4 p.m.
Projected Resumption of In-person Services
The DRC officials stated, “Any updates regarding the reopening schedule will be communicated ASAP. We regret any inconvenience caused and anticipate resuming full, in-person services to the community on Monday.”
Such closures, while causing some temporary inconvenience, are necessary to ensure continuity and improvement in the quality of services provided by the DRC. By maintaining open lines of communication and ensuring that contingency plans are in place, DRC officials are prioritizing the needs of the community and its builders and developers. The quick turnaround schedule too ensures minimal disruption in operations.

This office closure is historical in nature, given that the DRC typically operates non-stop to facilitate growth and development in the city. In their statement, DRC officials expressed regret for any trouble caused to the public but assured them of efforts to get back to normal functioning by Monday.
