Let’s take a friendly stroll through some of the incidents reported recently. From curious children to car thefts, the East Ridge Police Department has been busy keeping our community safe.

Day Shift – October 30

First up is an incident on Camp Jordan Parkway. Police got a call about some inappropriate behavior involving a man recording a bartender without her consent. When the officers arrived, the man admitted to filming her. Good news? He deleted the videos right there on the spot! The bar manager decided it was best to trespass him from the establishment, and he fully understood he couldn’t return without facing potential arrest. It’s good to see the police taking swift action for the comfort of our local businesses!

Moving on, officers were called to the 900 block of Spring Creek Road due to a burglar alarm. Fortunately, after a thorough inspection, they found no signs of forced entry, and the building was secure. That’s a relief!

Another interesting call came from the 4300 block of Ringgold Road where police had to deal with an abandoned child report. Two juveniles were found wandering without a guardian. Thankfully, they were located with their parents across the street at another business, so a happy ending there!

Last but not least, officers addressed a case of harassment from the 6900 block of Glen Errol Way. A woman had made a deal with another party for hair services in exchange for furniture, but things went south, and she began receiving harassing text messages and unwelcome visits from the other party. Police suggested she block the individual and reminded her that her dispute was more of a civil matter.

Night Shift – October 30

Landsdell Park Neighborhood regarding improper parking during a Halloween event on Hurst Street. Officers issued a friendly 15-minute warning before potential towing. Everyone complied, ensuring all cars were moved without anyone getting towed – a win for community spirit!

Later that night, two warrant services occurred on Ringgold Rd, showing how the police are keeping the streets clear of people with outstanding warrants. It’s reassuring to know that law enforcement is taking these matters seriously.

Day Shift – October 31

On Halloween, an unfortunate report of auto theft came in from the 5700 block of Ringgold Road. A woman discovered her vehicle had gone missing after a friend spotted it elsewhere. The vehicle was reported stolen and entered into a national database to facilitate recovery. Let’s hope they find it soon!

An alert resident in the 1100 block of Sewanee Drive reported suspicious activity when they noticed a neighbor’s door was left wide open. Police investigated but found nothing amiss, securing the door before leaving. It’s great to see that our community members are keeping an eye out for one another!

Night Shift – October 31

As holiday festivities continued, another serious incident unfolded at the intersection of S Seminole and Old Ringgold Rd. Officers assisted in searching for suspects involved in an aggravated carjacking which required police from Chattanooga to chase the vehicle. Thankfully, one suspect was caught, but the other fled on foot. Teams are working hard, utilizing K9 units and drones to enhance their search efforts.

And in a rather amusing snippet from the 5300 block of Bennett Road, officers encountered a man dancing in a resident’s yard! When police responded, they found him lying shirtless in the roadway. Understandably concerned, responders transported him to EMS for evaluation. Sometimes our community certainly provides unexpected moments!

As always, observing all these events shows just how necessary the work of our local police is in keeping East Ridge a safe place to live. Let’s keep doing our part, staying vigilant, and looking out for each other!
