East Ridge to Undergo Major Wastewater Management Upgrade

Hey, East Ridge folks! We’ve got some big news that could impact your daily routine for the next few years. The City of Chattanooga Wastewater Department has announced a major project to enhance our area’s wastewater management system, and it all kicks off soon!

What’s Happening?

Starting November 18th, the department will begin the construction of two impressive 1.5-million-gallon aboveground storage tanks. These tanks will be located right at 6000 Cornelison Road, close to the popular Camp Jordan Park. This significant infrastructure upgrade aims to boost the city’s capacity to handle wastewater efficiently and responsibly.

Need for the Closure

So, what does this mean for you? Well, to allow for a smooth construction process and ensure everyone’s safety—workers and park visitors alike—the South Chickamauga Creek Greenway will be closed. This closure will stretch from the Camp Jordan Access point all the way to the Brainerd Road Trailhead at Greenway View Drive. Mark your calendars, because this closure is set to last until the summer of 2027!

The folks at Brassfield & Gorrie Construction have been chosen for this important job, and they plan to work methodically to minimize any disruptions. Starting November 18th, the gate over the bridge at Camp Jordan Park will be locked, and clear signage will guide you through any changes. There will be lots of information available at access points, so you won’t be left in the dark.

Why the Change?

You might be wondering why all of this is necessary. Well, this investment is not just about storage tanks; it’s about creating a cleaner, healthier environment for everyone in East Ridge and Chattanooga. With improved wastewater management, the city can better protect our natural surroundings, ensuring a sustainable community for generations to come.

A Friendly Apology

The City of East Ridge truly understands that this construction may cause some inconvenience, and they sincerely apologize. But they also appreciate your understanding and cooperation as they work diligently to enhance our wastewater infrastructure. After all, everyone benefits from a more efficient system!
