CHATTANOOGA, TN – The coming weeks in Chattanooga are set to buzz with activity as the city gears up for several special events. Notably, the ability to sell beer at these events has been greenlit by the Chattanooga Beer Board which recently issued the necessary temporary beer permits.
Making headway on the social front, Southside Food Truck Park is set to pop up in an empty lot at 1511 Williams St. every Saturday in June from 10 a.m. until 10 p.m. This initiative is being organized by Paul Smith, owner of Nooga Taps, LLC who will be the sole beer vendor for this event. He notably owns a couple of antique, refrigerated trucks, from which he sells beer. The park is set to bring together various food trucks for people to enjoy.
On another note, the Rabbit Valley Farmers Market, a staple event featuring local farmers and artisans that runs from mid-May until mid-October, is set to host a special “Mother’s Day Gala” on Saturday at Coolidge Park. The organizer of this unique event, Robert Davis informed that Samantha Kern Leslie would be in charge of beer sales throughout the event running from 10 in the morning until 7 in the evening.
Adding to the series of exciting events, the Coolidge National Medal of Honor Heritage Center is scheduled to hold its first MURPH challenge in Chattanooga on Memorial Day, May 27. The competition is a tribute to Lt. Michael P. Murphy who valiantly lost his life in Afghanistan in 2005. The challenge consists of a one-mile run, 100 pullups, 200 pushups, 300 squats, all of which is followed up with a concluding mile run while wearing a 20-pound vest. The challenge is expected to go on for approximately five to six hours and participants will indulge in a celebratory beer in the last 45 minutes after finishing the course.
The organizers have assured safety measures have been put in place, with ID checks for verifying age before serving beer being a standard across all events. In certain events, the presence of a designated police officer throughout the event for assistance and conducting age verifications has been confirmed.
As Chattanooga brews up an enticing line-up of events, the city is ready to play host to diverse activities, fostering a community culture, celebrating its heroes and ensuring grand occasions are marked with equal grandeur.
