Exciting Week Ahead in Chattanooga
This week in Chattanooga, locals and visitors have a variety of events and activities to look forward to. From the culminating concerts of the summer series to special guest appearances, there’s something for everyone.
Special Guests & Events
On August 30, Red, White, Blue & Gold Night will take place at AT&T Field as the Chattanooga Lookouts honor local hero, Olivia Reeves. The Hixson resident recently won a gold medal in the women’s 71kg weightlifting event at the 2024 Summer Olympics. Fans can take photos with Reeves before she throws out the ceremonial first pitch in the game against the Birmingham Barons. Attendees are encouraged to wear patriotic colors to show their support.
Entertainment & Arts
Several galleries around town are showcasing impressive art displays this week. AREA 61 GALLERY continues with “Soaring” by Erica Moreland through September 30, and AVA GALLERY presents an Association for Visual Arts juried member show until September 20.
Live Music
Music lovers can enjoy the final set of summer concerts this week. Nightfall concludes on August 30 at Miller Plaza with local act New Dismembered Tennesseans opening at 7 p.m. for headliner AJ Lee & Blue Summitt at 8 p.m. Meanwhile, Riverfront Nights at Ross’s Landing will wrap up with a performance by The MaleMen: A Night of Motown on August 31, followed by Rick Rushing & The Blues Strangers.
Festivals & Special Events
In other exciting events, the Battle of the Food Trucks Festival at Camp Jordan on August 31 and September 1 promises a fun-filled time with vendor shopping, entertainment, and a variety of food trucks competing for the best in attendance. Admission is $5, with the opportunity to buy more tickets to cast additional votes.
For a family-friendly outing, the Butterfly Festival at Heritage High School on August 31 offers games, inflatables, and a butterfly release in memory of Katie Beth Carter. Admission is $10 per person or $50 maximum per family.
Sports
Sports enthusiasts can catch the Chattanooga Lookouts playing against the Birmingham Barons at AT&T Field from August 27 to September 1. Highlights include Thirsty Thursday drink specials and Dogs at the Diamond on Sunday, where fans can bring their pooches for an additional fee.
Other Exciting News
In an exciting development for thrill-seekers, Six Flags is combining forces with Cedar Fair to offer an unlimited access pass to all of their parks starting January 6, 2025. This all-park passport includes three properties in the Atlanta area: Six Flags Over Georgia, Six Flags Hurricane Harbor, and Six Flags Whitewater.
