Fastest Growing Businesses in Chattanooga for 2024

Chattanooga is witnessing a surge in entrepreneurial success, with a notable rise in various businesses making it big in recent years. According to Inc. Magazine’s latest listing of the 5,000 fastest growing companies in the United States, several Chattanooga-based companies have made the cut, highlighting the city’s thriving business landscape.

Big Sky Landscapes Leads the Charge

At the top of the local list is Big Sky Landscapes, which has exploded in growth since its inception. Founded by Luke Bowling about four years ago, Big Sky Landscapes earned the title of the fastest growing business in Chattanooga, ranking 416 overall nationwide. Bowling, who returned to Chattanooga after living in Montana, saw a gap in the landscaping market and jumped in with both feet, leading to an impressive 1,066% growth in revenue over three years.

Bowling’s approach centers around excellent customer service. He noted how customers are often pleased with companies simply returning calls or doing what they promised. He focused on setting a higher standard in the industry, stating, “People should expect more from a landscape company.” His team has expanded from just two people to 28 full-time employees, reflecting the company’s rapid scaling.

  • Big Sky Landscapes offers services such as:
  • Outdoor lighting installation
  • Irrigation systems
  • Patios and retaining walls

“We’re in the business of building long-term relationships,” Bowling emphasized, aiming to ensure that clients receive regular communication and updates about their properties.

The Main Players in Logistics

Logistics remains a significant part of Chattanooga’s economic landscape, with six out of the fifteen local companies listed in the fastest growing category belonging to this sector. Companies like Covenant Logistics and U.S. Xpress have paved the way for new businesses as they hire and train local talent who often go on to establish their ventures.

Craig Fuller, CEO of FreightWaves, stated, “Outside of Chicago, Chattanooga is the epicenter” of the logistics industry. Many new logistics firms find success through their agility compared to traditional trucking companies, as they usually focus on providing brokerage services rather than owning fleets.

  • Steam Logistics – international freight forwarder, 491% growth
