A fatal traffic crash early Tuesday morning involving a wrong-way driver on I-75 has left two people dead and a child seriously injured. Chattanooga Police responded to the incident at approximately 2:11 a.m., near the 580 Interstate 75 north exit.

The initial investigation by CPD’s Traffic Unit reveals that the driver of a Nissan Sentra, a 37-year-old woman, was driving southbound in the northbound lanes of the interstate. She collided head-on with a Honda Accord, driven by a 65-year-old man, who was traveling in the correct direction.
The impact of the crash caused the Honda Accord to spin out and it was subsequently struck a second time by a tractor-trailer. Upon arrival, emergency responders from Chattanooga Fire and Hamilton County EMS found the two drivers and a child passenger with life-threatening injuries.
The drivers of both the Nissan Sentra and the Honda Accord were pronounced dead at the scene. EMS transported the child, who was a passenger in the Nissan, to a local hospital. The child is reported to have life-threatening injuries. The driver of the tractor-trailer was uninjured in the accident.
