Get ready, Chattanooga! On October 5, 2024, the lively atmosphere of Miller Park will be transformed into a colorful fiesta as we welcome Fiestaval— A Taste of Latin America. This free and family-friendly festival is set to uplift the local community and showcase the vibrant culture of Latin America with a day full of fun, music, dance, and delicious food.
Starting at 11:00 a.m., festival-goers can expect a jam-packed day featuring a range of exciting activities. Bring the little ones to the Kids’ Area, where they can jump around and play to their hearts’ content while you enjoy the festive spirit all around. Along with an inflatable soccer field provided by the Chattanooga Football Club, there will be live music from the La Rumba Latin band and spectacular dance presentations by Ensamble de México that will keep you tapping your feet.
But that’s not all! Prepare to be entertained by the vibrant sounds of Willy Obell, a talented Latin urban artist who is sure to get the audience on their feet. There will also be lively DJ sets from DJ More, spinning tracks that infuse energy into the air.
What would a festival be without delicious food? Fiestaval is set to feature an assortment of Latin food trucks ready to tempt your taste buds with tantalizing flavors from various Latin American cuisines. You’ll want to savor every bite! And if you’re in the mood for a nice refreshing drink, don’t forget to swing by the beer garden for a flavorful selection.
One of the highlights of the event will be the grand finale of Canta: Festival de la Canción en Español, which is a annual singing contest showcasing stunning performances in Spanish. Starting at 5:00 p.m., this segment promises to be the ultimate crowd-pleaser, celebrating the immense talent within the community. Whether you’re an audience member or a performer, you are sure to feel the excitement and applause that this contest will bring.
As the sun begins to set, find a cozy spot on the grass as the festival wraps up with an inspiring movie screening of the locally made short film, Journey with Giovanny. Make sure to bring lawn chairs and blankets to sit back and relax while enjoying this wonderful closing event.
This fantastic festival is produced by Pedro Abriles, who is taking part in the Emerging Producers Program by River City Company. Fiestaval is made possible through generous support from various organizations including the Lyndhurst Foundation, Tennessee Arts Commission, Canta, and Hispanic Arts & Education. Their collective efforts have ensured that this celebration will be a fantastic opportunity to promote cultural diversity and engage with the community.
So, gather your family and friends and head out to Miller Park for a day of immersive cultural experiences. With activities for all ages, delicious food, and joyous music, Fiestaval: A Taste of Latin America, guarantees a delightful time for everyone.
