Dalton, Georgia was buzzing with excitement on a lovely Thursday, December 12, as over 300 students from Georgia Northwestern Technical College (GNTC) marched across the stage to receive their much-anticipated diplomas and certificates. The atmosphere was electric as families, friends, and faculty packed the Dalton Convention Center, celebrating a huge milestone in the life of these hardworking individuals.
It was a morning filled with joy, as proud parents and beaming graduates filled the air with cheers and applause. The event kicked off with a heartfelt rendition of the National Anthem by Trevor Roberts, who is not just an instructor but also the clinical coordinator for Ultrasound programs at GNTC. As his voice echoed in the hall, it set the tone for a day of inspiration and celebration.
Following the anthem, Leyner Argueta, the program director for Business Management, led an earnest invocation that reminded everyone of the hard work and dedication that was necessary to reach this point.
Our hearts melted a little when we saw graduates like Ebony S. Blanks, Jamie Bush, and Nykenge B. Peterson posing for celebratory pictures before the ceremony started, proudly holding their diplomas in Practical Nursing. Their smiles, full of hope and excitement, reflected the dreams they set out to achieve.
And the celebrations continued! Dr. Heidi Popham, GNTC president, was on hand to present diplomas and certificates to several deserving students. Among them was Tony Lamar Brooks, who received a diploma in Business Management, while Caleb Cochran walked away with a technical certificate in Computer Forensics and Security Specialist.
Other enthusiastic graduates included Ammy Cornejo Cornejo, Angie Lopez, Selena Angelica Cruz, and Lizbeth Segura Vazquez, who proudly earned their technical certificates of credit in Cosmetology for Licensure and Clinical Office Assistant respectively. The future is bright for these graduates, who have the skills to help others look and feel their best.
As the ceremony wrapped up, students like Ruben Cruz-Chavez and Verencie Nieto were not just celebrating their achievements; they were also preparing to take the next steps in their careers. Ruben received an associate degree in Business Management while Verencie completed a diploma in Medical Assisting. It’s apparent that their futures are bright and filled with potential!
