Join the Fun at Chattanooga’s Grateful Gobbler Walk!

Chattanooga, Tenn. – It’s that time of year again when the community of Chattanooga comes together for a heartwarming tradition—the Grateful Gobbler Walk! Scheduled for Thanksgiving Day, this delightful event not only kicks off the holiday celebrations but also supports a vital cause: the MaClellan Shelter for Families.

A Cause Worth Walking For

The Grateful Gobbler Walk has become a cherished event in Chattanooga, and it’s easy to see why. Every participant helps raise funds for the MaClellan Shelter, the only facility within a 120-mile radius that keeps families together during times of hardship and homelessness. As Stan Mccright, co-chair of the walk, explains, “The MaClellan Shelter recognizes a deep need in our state. In Tennessee, there’s a law that forces mothers and their sons aged ten or older to separate into different shelters. The MaClellan Shelter ensures that families can stay united during a tough time.”

This shelter provides a beacon of hope for those who find themselves homeless, offering not just a roof over their heads, but essential services aimed at helping them get back on their feet.

Celebrating 25 Years of Giving

This year marks the 25th anniversary of the Grateful Gobbler Walk, adding an extra layer of excitement to the festivities. In previous years, attendees have enjoyed the delightful presence of an 8-foot tall turkey mascot, and this Thanksgiving, the mascot will return with a new look that everyone can’t wait to see!

Join Us for Some Holiday Fun

The Grateful Gobbler 5k Walk kicks off at 8 AM sharp at Coolidge Park, located at 150 River St, Chattanooga, TN 37405. What a great way to start Thanksgiving Day! It’s the perfect opportunity to enjoy the crisp autumn air while supporting a fantastic cause. Plus, finishing the walk early allows participants to head home and prepare for a delicious Thanksgiving dinner with family and friends.

What makes the Grateful Gobbler Walk so special is the community spirit that fills the air. Stan Mccright reflects on this sentiment, saying, “Every year we leave saying, ‘Oh, we’ve got to do this again!’ It’s so much fun! People are so giving, and Chattanooga really shines as a caring community. There’s an excitement in the air, especially from the kids. It’s a joyous event that reminds us all of the blessings we have.”

Be Part of Something Bigger

By participating in the Grateful Gobbler Walk, you’re not just exercising your body; you’re also contributing to a noble cause. Every dollar raised goes directly to the MaClellan Shelter, ensuring that families facing homelessness have access to safe housing and vital services. It’s a wonderful way to spread kindness and support while enjoying the camaraderie of fellow Chattanoogans.

Get the Word Out!

Whether you’re a seasoned walker or new to the event, there’s a place for you at the Grateful Gobbler Walk. Mark your calendars, invite friends and family, and plan to show up on Thanksgiving Day.
