In Chattanooga, a notable local attorney, Arthur C. Grisham Jr., has regained his right to practice law after a suspension that lasted three months. This action follows Grisham’s failure to promptly respond to a misconduct complaint, leading to the temporary barring of his practice.
Effective from April 29, Grisham’s suspension has officially come to an end as of yesterday, as confirmed by the board of professional responsibility in a recent statement. He was able to reconcile the missed deadline and meet the necessary response requirements before reinstatement.
Grisham’s troubles began when he did not respond to the misconduct complaint until May 20, well past the designated deadline. This lapse caused the panel to recommend his suspension. The nature of the misconduct complaint remains sealed and thus undisclosed to the public.
Speaking candidly about the incident, Grisham attributed the delay to his lack of proficiency with certain computer programs and a bout of bronchitis that impaired his memory. He reflected on the situation, stating, “It’s one of the things that happens from time to time. I’m sorry it had to be me.”
Overcoming a technical glitch whilst being unwell, Grisham eventually made an adequate response. The hearing panel report indicated that his honesty regarding the complications faced played a significant role in his recommendation for reinstatement.
Having been licensed in Tennessee since 1972, Arthur Grisham has a long-standing history in Chattanooga legal circles. With reinstatement finalized, he expressed enthusiasm in resuming his law practice, saying he looks forward to assisting his clients once more.
