A Dive into History

For those who enjoy a little backstory, the Hamilton County Fair has been a cherished tradition since 1951. It all started at Warner Park, initiated by George McInturff, who partnered with the Hamilton County Fair Association. Back then, it featured agricultural exhibits and competitions amongst local garden clubs, some of which are still part of the fair today!

Returning Classics: 4-H Agricultural Judging

One of the fair’s enduring events is the 4-H agricultural judging, where kids team up to judge livestock based on their agricultural significance. This event has a legacy of excellence, with notable judges boasting the “highest score in the history of Tennessee competition.” It’s a fantastic opportunity for young minds to learn about agriculture in a hands-on environment.

Exciting Shows and Exhibits

Another fan-favorite, the Lumberjack Show, is back on November 8th and 9th, and it’s included with your admission! Witness amazing stunts including log rolling and axe throwing, performed by skilled lumberjacks who know how to keep the crowd entertained.

If you’re an animal lover, don’t miss the Kubota Showbarn. Here, you get the chance to see a variety of animals such as alpacas, swine, ducks, poultry, cattle, and horses. Plus, there’s a “farmer-for-the-day” experience where you can get a glimpse of what it’s like to work on a farm. It’s educational and super fun!
