CHATTANOOGA, Tenn. – As the clock struck midnight, the eager buzz of the community could be felt within the Chattanooga area. Tennessee’s tax-free weekend had officially begun, initiating an unparalleled sense of excitement among customers. Schools across the nation are returning to session and parents, as well as students, were all ready and eager to seize the opportunity of purchasing school supplies tax-free, finding some of the best deals at Chattanooga’s beloved Hamilton Place Mall.
Experts at Hamilton Place aptly compare this delightful tax-free weekend to a “warmup for Black Friday,” a testament to the hype surrounding the event. The stakeholders at Hamilton Place mall feel proud to be considered a popular shopping destination by the locals and those hailing from surrounding states. This has been made possible by the strong and long-standing rapport between the store owners at Hamilton Place and their esteemed customers.
Andrew Steel, the Hamilton Place’s Director of Marketing, expressed joy and gratitude at the turnout, noting, “We always compare this to a warmup for Black Friday, that’s how busy our crowds get here, and it really means the world to us that our Chattanooga locals and people from surrounding states view us as the place where they want to come and shop with us. We don’t take that lightly and were just thrilled and honored to have everyone in the mall today.”
Staff at Hamilton Place had been meticulously preparing for the tax-free weekend. Given the event’s popularity, the store owners anticipated a significant rise in foot traffic, signaling the start of a busy shopping season.
The focus remained on catering to the tax-free shoppers, ensuring they leave with utmost satisfaction after purchasing their desired items. Enthusiastically explaining the essence of the tax-free weekend, Steel added, “My favorite thing about tax-free weekend is getting to see all of the families come and go to our mall and there’s lots of exciting parents, children, who come and get their back-to-school outfits with us.”
To augment the benefits of tax-free shopping, certain stores like Palmetto Moon and Buckle joined hands to offer a $1000 giveaway in their ‘Battle of the Backpacks’ raffle, thereby making the shopping experience even more thrilling for the patrons.
Tucker Cox, Manager at Buckle, made an insightful comment about this initiative, saying, “Maybe their parents can afford a little bit more than what they are used to cause that no tax is basically saving ten percent right there with the tax in Tennessee. So, not having that added expense of tax allows them to maybe get a couple more things than what they were used to.”
The joy isn’t limited to shoppers. The cheerful smiles on the faces of excited children trying out new clothes, flaunting their new purchases, holding their new tablets makes everyone at Hamilton Place feel content and pleased with their efforts.
The contagious enthusiasm of the ecstatic shoppers, the enchanting readiness of the mall, and the unwavering support of the local community make the tax-free weekend a truly remarkable event.
Shoppers in Tennessee can seize the opportunity to save nearly 10% on certain qualifying purchases. Items such as clothing and school supplies priced at $100 or less, along with computers priced at $1500 or less, can be purchased tax-free.
