Exciting New Inmate Communication System Set to Launch in Hamilton County Jail by 2025

Exciting New Inmate Communication System Coming to Hamilton County Jail!

Hello, Hamilton County! We have some really exciting news to share about a fantastic upgrade coming to our local jail and detention center. Get ready, because in early 2025, a brand new inmate communication system is set to launch, making it easier and far more affordable for inmates to connect with their families. Sheriff Austin Garrett is quite pleased with this change, and trust us, you will be too!

Bid Farewell to High Costs

If you’ve ever had the tough experience of trying to stay in touch with a loved one behind bars, you know it can really pinch your wallet! But thanks to a recent deal with Smart Communications, that’s all about to change. After kicking off a competitive bidding process in February 2024, Smart Communications has been selected as the new vendor to take over from the previous provider, Securus.

What’s the best part? The costs for communication are seeing a whopping reduction. That means, instead of dishing out $2.85 for a mere 15-minute phone call, you’ll only be paying just 60 cents! And if you’re thinking about video calls, those will be slashed from $7.50 down to a more pocket-friendly $1.50. Talk about a major win for families!

A Gift To Families

But wait, there’s more! To keep those connections strong, each inmate will also receive two free phone calls and two free video visits every week. It’s like a little gift from the jailer to help families feel connected, even during tough times. Being able to hear your loved one’s voice or see their face can make all the difference, and now, it won’t cost an arm and a leg!

Enhancements for Attorneys Too!

attorney-client privilege, so the Sheriff’s Office will not have access to this information. This is a much-needed change to help keep legal matters flowing smoothly!

Looking Forward

The anticipated launch of this new system showcases the Hamilton County Sheriff’s Office’s commitment to making high-quality communication more accessible. With no cost to the county for installation and equipment, this venture not only supports the families of the incarcerated but also fosters a more humane approach to detention. Inmates will have a better opportunity to maintain relationships with their families, which is crucial for reintegration into society.

As the first quarter of 2025 rolls around, we encourage families to look out for updates on the implementation date and any additional features that might come with this exciting new system. Communication is key, and this new initiative is bound to make a big difference.

Final Words

Stay tuned for more updates, and remember—better connections are on the way!
