Redolent with the spirit of creativity, Chattanooga buzzes with artistry in spades. Central to the city’s vitality, ClearStory Arts is renowned for its ever-evolving roster of local talent. This month, the spotlight proudly illuminates Katie Aronat of Arrowknot Studios, encouraging art enthusiasts and newcomers alike to take a deep dive into a kaleidoscope of cut-out artworks.
An alumna with a degree in Design|Media Arts, Aronat spent an impressive half a decade in graphic design and motion graphics, and later, notably ventured into Project Management. Despite her rigorous professional commitments, she remained tethered to her creativity, embarking on several passion projects, most of which showcased her prowess with a die-cutting machine. After finding inspiration in the art world, specifically from her artistic hero, Sophie Tea, her fingerprints first graced a paintbrush in 2022. The resultant abstract paintings brimming with colors became the stepping stones to her unique artistry. Utilizing her design background and vast experience with the die-cutting machine, Aronat unveiled her first experiment with cut-out artwork in January 2023. An ardent adventurer in the world of art, she continually explores how overlapping material silhouettes can engender dimensions in her pieces.
In a heartwarming gesture, Aronat will be giving away a mini mirror heart from her lauded “Self-Love Affirmation” collection. The lucky visitor who accomplishes the feat of covering all open studios stands a chance to walk away with this delightful token of appreciation.
A visit to ClearStory Arts is far more than just a visual treat; it’s an experience that encompasses an array of diverse art forms. The center, home to more than 130 artworks, will be hosting its famous monthly art Mini Market, featuring five new guest artists, each displaying their unique connection with their art.
This month’s vibrant roster includes specialists in several niches – Kerri Besse of K Anne Designs known for handmade greeting cards, gift tags, and wall art; Michael Lardizabal, a revered creator of original characters, prints, and paintings; the versatile multimedia artist Henry Green; Alex Birghenthal of Fox and Fish Printing, and Anh Bao Tran-Le, a Chattanooga-based artist and interior designer. Each artist’s unique style adds a splash of color and variety to the Mini Market.
ClearStory Arts stands as a beacon of creativity, encouraging every visitor to immerse themselves in the world of art, whether they are a seasoned artist, a dabbler in the arts, or simply a lover of all things beautiful.
