Latricia Denise Carson: A Beacon in the Beauty Industry Passes Away
In a sad turn of events, Latricia Denise Carson, known affectionately as a fixture in the beauty industry, breathed her last on Saturday, April 6, 2024, while at her residence in Tampa, Florida.
Early Life and Education
Born on February 15, 1972, Latricia Carson came from Chattanooga, Tennessee, as the eldest child in a family of three, to her parents Henry and the late Rachel Carson. Her educational journey began in the Chattanooga Public School System before she graduated from Kirkman Technical High School in 1990. To further her interest in the beauty industry, Carson then attended the Chattanooga Barber College, mastering the art of hairstyling.
Her Life and Passion
Carson was a zealous individual who enjoyed all things related to the beauty industry. Her other interests were vast and varied, including loving the beach, dancing, and singing karaoke songs. Despite her self-deprecating humor about her singing abilities, she never refrained from belting out a tune. A deeply devoted grandmother, she lovingly nicknamed each of her grandchildren “Glam-Children.”
Her love for her family was evident as she adored her children and took immense pride in their accomplishments. A memorable trait of hers was considering her son’s college degree as her “fifth Glam-child.”
A Cherished Memory
Surviving Latricia are numerous family members who remember her fondly. They include her husband, Douglas Virgilio Silva of Orlando; son, Jerome Lindsey from Memphis; daughters, Alexia Dave and Tallia Barnette from Tampa; father, Henry Carson of Chattanooga; and sisters, Felicia (Adrian) Morgan of Chattanooga and Erica Carson of Lithia Springs, Georgia.
Among her “Glam-Children” are “Leader Of The Pack” Zyon Thomas, Mylia “Tootlebutton” Taylor, Zayn “Zaythoven” Thomas, and Mackenzie “Bullet” Barnette, all from Tampa. Also surviving her is her niece, Brianna “Auntie” Epps from Chattanooga; and nephew, Derayl Helton of Coalinga, California along with a host of friends and relatives who will remember her with love.
The Final Farewell
Latricia Carson was predeceased by her mother, Rachel Carson; grandmother, Sarah McComb, and best friend, Elizabeth Bodaly. A memorial service commemorating her life will be held at 1:00 p.m. on Wednesday, April 17, at the Orchard Knob Missionary Baptist Church on E. Third Street. The Carson family requests that those who wish to express sympathy to consider making donations to Latricia’s favorite charities in her memory. The family wishes to thank all those who have extended emotional and spiritual support during this time of bereavement.
Omitted But Never Forgotten
As an influential figure in the beauty industry, Latricia Denise Carson’s demise is a significant loss. She leaves behind a legacy marked by her unfetted love for family and her passion for her work in the beauty sector. As she is laid to rest in the coming days, we celebrate her life and the joy she brought to those around her. May her soul find peace.
