Man With Prior Federal Gun Conviction Charged In Wilcox Boulevard Shooting

A man with a prior federal gun conviction has been arrested and **charged** in connection with a shooting on Wilcox Boulevard that left two people injured early Monday morning.

Details of the Incident

Adrian Ausberry, 43, of 3728 Mark Twain Circle, has been charged with **two counts of attempted first-degree murder**, **vandalism**, **driving on a revoked or suspended license**, and **reckless endangerment**. The event took place at around **1:30 a.m.** on Monday.

Police were called to 3230 Wilcox Blvd. upon receiving reports of shots being fired. Upon arrival, they found a woman with a gunshot wound to her leg. Shortly after, they were alerted to a man who had also been shot and was located nearby; he had been **shot in the face**.

Witnesses and Statements

Witnesses stated that they saw Ausberry in an altercation with the man who was shot before Ausberry pulled a gun and **began firing**. The woman who was shot has identified Ausberry as her previous boyfriend, and the man who was shot is her current boyfriend.

The current boyfriend revealed he had confronted Ausberry about **harassing** the woman. A struggle erupted over a gun Ausberry had brandished, leading to multiple shots being fired. The targeted man noted he was shot in the face while running to his vehicle. The woman mentioned she realized she was shot in the leg while attempting to flee the scene.

The chaotic scene unfolded in the midst of a **heavily-populated parking lot** outside a **nightclub**. It raised significant safety concerns among the local community.

Past Legal Issues

Adrian Ausberry was previously sentenced to **115 months** in Federal Court after police discovered a loaded Glock handgun at his home during a drugs search on **February 8, 2017**. The gun was found under the seat cushion where Ausberry had been sitting. With prior felony convictions for **cocaine for resale** and **reckless aggravated assault**, his federal sentence was reduced to **80 months** on **November 20, 2021**. Ausberry had just completed his federal probation supervision on **April 26**.
