Man in critical condition after drive-by shooting in Chattanooga Saturday

CHATTANOOGA, Tenn. – A man, whose identity is yet to be released, is in critical condition following a drive-by shooting that occurred on Saturday evening in Chattanooga, Tennessee, the local authority confirmed. The targeted attack took place at the 3200 block of Through Street whilst the victim was inside a vehicle with several other occupants. Meanwhile, the motive of the attack is yet to be established.

Details of the incident

The Chattanooga Police Department (CPD) has reported that the assailant was in a separate vehicle and started unleashing bullets on the victim’s car. The victim suffered several gunshot injuries, which have left him in a grave condition at a local medical facility. Other passengers in the victim’s car escaped uninjured according to the initial reports from the police.

The suspects sped away after the incident, and no arrests have been made so far. While a description of the suspect’s car was reportedly given by witnesses, the CPD is yet to release this information.

Investigation and Call for Witnesses

The Chattanooga Police Department (CPD), with assistance from the Violent Crimes Bureau, has launched a full-scale investigation into the matter. CPD is also appealing to members of the public to come forward with any useful information that may aid the investigation.

“This is a tragic case and our thoughts are with the victim and his family during this tough period. We are appealing to anyone who may have witnessed the incident, or have any information that could help in investigation to please come forward,” urged a spokesperson from the CPD.

This incident comes in the wake of increasing cases of drive-by shootings across the city, causing extended concern among the public and various stakeholders. Law enforcement agencies have stepped up their efforts to address these incidents, investing in intelligence-led policing and community engagement programs.
