May Pang Exhibition Comes to ArtsBuild

Chattanooga: A Candid Lens Into John Lennon’s Life

For a limited two-day engagement, Chattanooga residents will have the unique opportunity to peer into a seldom-seen side of music legend John Lennon. May Pang, a former music executive and author, known for her intimate relationship with the former Beatle during his “Lost Weekend” era, will showcase her collection of candid photographs of Lennon at ArtsBuild.

An Intimate Encounter with Lennon

This comprehensive collection presents a rare look at Lennon’s life during his “Lost Weekend,” a period from 1973-1975 that the artist spent away from his wife, Yoko Ono. May Pang, also known as Lennon’s lover and companion during these years, captured many candid moments of the music icon that provide unrivaled insights into his life and character. The exhibition will run on Tuesday, April 23 and Wednesday, April 24 from 5 p.m. to 8 p.m.

Meet The Photographer

The Lost Weekend: The Photography of May Pang is more than just an exhibition. May Pang herself will be in attendance at ArtsBuild to meet visitors and share the intriguing stories behind her photographs. Her intuitive eye and deep connection with the subject have resulted in a series of evocative images that are both intimate and revealing.

A Celebration of Love and Art

This exhibition comes on the heels of a recently released documentary film that explores the love story between Pang and Lennon. The documentary sheds light on their relationship during the tumultuous “Lost Weekend” period, offering viewers an intimate perspective on this phase of Lennon’s life.

Supporting the Local Arts Scene

Visitors can enjoy the exhibition and meet-and-greet with May Pang entirely for free. However, those who wish to take a piece of this unique exhibition home with them will have the chance to purchase these poignant photographs. A portion of the proceeds from the photograph sales will benefit ArtsBuild, reaffirming the event’s commitment to supporting the arts and culture in Chattanooga.

A Unique Cultural Experience

This two-day exhibition is a must-see for any Beatles enthusiasts, photography lovers, and local culture aficionados in Chattanooga. May Pang’s photos offer a valuable glimpse into the private life of one of the most influential music artists in history, during one of his most controversial periods. The combined influence of music, love, and art promises to make this an event that should not be missed.
