The city of Chattanooga, Tennessee is set to serve a delicious blend of learning and leisure as it hosts an enlightening whiskey mixology class dubbed Mixology 101: Whiskey. Scheduled on March 22, 2024, the class will be held from 6:00 PM to 7:30 PM at The Chattery, located at 1800 Rossville Avenue, Suite 108.
Participants will have the privilege not only to taste three distinct types of whiskey – sour mash, wheated bourbon, rye whiskey, and scotch whiskey – but also to learn the art of making two unique cocktails using these variants. Attendees will also be equipped with the basic skills required to recreate these tantalizing drinks at home. Tricks to impress friends and family with homemade ingredients and entertaining garnishes will further add flair to the lessons planned.
As a parting gift, everyone will receive recipe cards and detailed instructions on how to transpose these newly acquired skills and knowledge to excite their social circles. It is essential to note, owing to the nature of the class, that attendees must be 21 years and above.
The class will be conducted by the knowledgeable and passionate Kaleena, who discovered her love for the hospitality industry following her move to Chattanooga in 2013. From a rookie bartender with no prior experience to a savvy hospitality professional, her journey leads her to establish The Bitter Bottle – the first legal alcohol-based bitters in Tennessee – in 2017.
Despite her initial ambition of becoming a musician, Kaleena has now made a name for herself in the beverage industry. Along the way, she has attended several educational programs, acquired certifications, and learned from some of the leading innovators, mentors, and distillers in the industry. She has also been instrumental in lobbying to reform Tennessee House Bill in 2017, displaying her unmistakable tenacity.
In addition to running The Bitter Bottle, Kaleena has also been involved in advising brands, coaching small business owners, and hosting community events and education centered around beverages. In 2022, she expanded her portfolio by creating Goldcraft Co.
The Mixology 101: Whiskey class is a rare opportunity to learn from a dedicated professional like Kaleena and to immerse oneself in the enriching world of whiskey. With a mix of theory and practical application, attendees are in for a treat that is educational, entertaining, and undoubtedly indulgent.
Chattanooga and its vibrant residents have always shown a penchant for enriching events involving local food and beverage industries. It’s an excellent opportunity for community members to have fun, learn something new, and connect with like-minded individuals.
