Much Anticipated New Broad Street Food City Now Open For Business

Opening of Widely Awaited Food City

The much-awaited Broad Street Food City in Chattanooga is now open for business, announcing its presence in the heart of the bustling city. This colossal food destination, spanning over 53,300+ sq. ft., has opened its doors to an enthusiastic public eager to avail of their unique blend of services.

Steven C. Smith, Food City president and chief executive officer proudly stated, “The development will be a great place to shop, dine, and enjoy beer and wine in a friend-welcoming atmosphere.” This project is a result of a successful collaboration with the City of Chattanooga and River City Company, aiming to offer residents a whole new shopping experience.

Features of Broad Street Food City

Besides the wide array of services, the new Food City includes an in-store bakery and deli, a hot food bar, and a generously proportioned seating area of over 115 seats. The food court serves breakfast, lunch, and dinner, promising restaurant-quality food.

The official launch of this store signifies a fantastic development in the local economy, transforming not just the downtown groove but also its landscape.

Rebirth in Chattanooga

Chattanooga Mayor Tim Kelly showed his enthusiasm stating, “This is another big step forward in the revitalization of South Chattanooga.” He emphasized that this project will not only engender new housing but also attract more residences in the area. The project holds the potential to strengthen neighborhoods and create opportunities for residents to live, work, and raise a family.

Urban and Convenient

To ensure the new Food City satisfied downtown Chattanooga’s Form-Based Code requirements, the development has also incorporated approximately 16,000 sq. ft. of two-level retail and office space and six two story townhouses along W. 13th Street.

River City Company president and chief executive officer, Emily Mack, described this as a “tremendous addition to downtown, contributing to healthy and fresh food access for the local residents and downtown employees.”

Not Just a Grocery Store

Apart from the retail and restaurant elements, the new Food City will also include a community room with a total seating capacity of 120, available to area groups to host community meetings and events

Bottom Line

The Broad Street Food City is a fantastic addition to the downtown Chattanooga scene. This new food destination not only offers a unique shopping experience, but it reconstructs the urban space to attract more residences and create a thriving neighborhood in the city. The commitment by the Food City team to provide access to fresh food and quality services manifests as progress in Chattanooga’s revitalization.
