If you’re living in the lovely city of Red Bank, mark your calendars for Saturday, September 21st! From 12 PM to 2 PM, a special community engagement workshop will be held at 3715 Dayton Boulevard. This is a fantastic opportunity for residents to come together and chat about what they envision for the 12-acre site of the former Red Bank Middle School.
The primary purpose of this workshop is to gather input from the community on desired uses for this significant piece of land. Red Bank is currently working on a city-wide comprehensive plan, so your voice really matters! Many folks are curious about how this space can be transformed for the benefit of everyone in the community, and this workshop is designed to ensure that happens.
You’ll also be pleased to know that the event will feature some local food and drink! Clever Ale House will offer delicious options for purchase, and if you have a sweet tooth, make sure to grab a free frozen pop from The Local Paletas—while supplies last, of course!
Mayor Hollie Berry emphasizes the importance of this gathering. “The former Red Bank Middle School site has been at the heart of planning discussions for our city since I took office in 2020,” she stated. “It is vital that we collect as much public feedback as possible to ensure that all voices are heard as we approach a decision about how these publicly-owned lands can best serve the people of Red Bank for generations to come.” She encourages families and individuals to participate, highlighting that this is a chance for the community to weigh in on a decision that could last a century.
To give you a bit of background, Michael Pham, the Community Planner for Red Bank, shared some insights from a survey conducted earlier this spring that received an impressive 1,300 responses. Participants expressed their desires for the land, stating an average of 8 acres for open space, and the top three favored uses were parks and recreation, civic facilities, and educational buildings.
During the workshop, attendees will have a unique chance to participate in a park design activity. This will allow residents to give their thoughts on what a dream park on this site could look like. Imagine walking through lush greenery, playing in well-designed recreational areas, or having spaces for community events—all depending on what you suggest!
“The long-term vision for Red Bank is being crafted with the help of community input,” Pham noted. “So far, we’ve seen exceptional turnout at these meetings.” He invites everyone to swing by the workshop anytime from 12 PM to 2 PM for an engaging session filled with creativity and community spirit.
Your participation in discussions about the future of your community is crucial! This workshop is an excellent chance to share your thoughts and ideas on how the land can serve Red Bank optimally. Whether you’re a long-time resident or new to the area, every opinion is valuable in shaping the future of this wonderful city. Let’s come together, enjoy some food, and dream big as we plan for a vibrant Red Bank!
