Remembering Brenda Carolyn Brown Fleming: A Journey of Love and Faith

Chattanooga – With heavy hearts, we gather to celebrate the life of Brenda Carolyn Brown Fleming, who left this world at the age of 74 on October 22, 2024, surrounded by her beloved family. Born on November 6, 1949, in the quaint town of Andersonville, Tennessee, Brenda was a cherished daughter of Luther and Genevive Brown. Her life was one filled with faith, love, and the comforting hugs that came at every family gathering.

A Life Rooted in Faith

Brenda’s journey of faith began when she professed her love for Christ at the tender age of 18. This faith remained the cornerstone of her life, guiding her through countless joys and challenges. As a dedicated member of Christ United Methodist Church in Chattanooga, Brenda embraced her faith wholeheartedly, becoming a beloved figure within her church community.

The Heart of the Family

Known for her affectionate spirit, Brenda possessed a rare gift for bringing her family together. She found joy in cooking, and her delicious meals were the highlight of many family gatherings. “When nanna was cooking, we all showed up,” recalled her daughters, Karen, Susanne, and Layla, who fondly remember the warmth of their childhood home filled with laughter and delightful aromas.

A loving wife to her husband Michael “Mike” Fleming for an incredible 58 years, Brenda’s love extended beyond just her immediate family. She is survived by her three daughters, her grandchildren – Zachary, Hannah, Evan, and Christian – and her great-grandchildren, Jayden, Wyatt, and Noah. Brenda’s spirit will be sorely missed by her many siblings, including sisters Shirley, Linda, Diane, Joyce, and Connie, alongside brothers Jim, Bobby Lynn, David, and Wesley, and numerous nieces and nephews who cherished her kindness.

A Sad Farewell

Brenda’s gentle and sweet spirit will leave a void in the lives of all who were lucky enough to know her. Preceded in death by her parents, sister Sue Branam, and brother Chuck Brown, she leaves behind a legacy of love, faith, and family devotion that will be remembered fondly.

The family extends their deepest gratitude to the health hospice team for their exceptional care during her final days. Their support and compassion meant the world to Brenda and her loved ones.

Celebrating Brenda’s Life

A memorial service in Brenda’s honor will be held on Sunday, October 27, at 3 PM at Christ United Methodist Church located at 8645 East Brainerd Road, Chattanooga, TN 37421. Rev. Debbie Stokes and Rev. David Hall will lead the service in celebrating Brenda’s life and faith. Family and friends are invited to attend visitation from 2–3 PM before the service to share memories and pay their respects.

Honoring Her Memory

In lieu of flowers, Brenda’s family encourages donations to be made in her memory to Christ United Methodist Church, The American Cancer Society, or any charity of your choice. This is a wonderful way to honor a woman who dedicated her life to serving others.

Brenda Carolyn Brown Fleming touched many lives with her remarkable kindness and unyielding love. She may have left this world, but her spirit will forever shine bright in the hearts of those she loved.
