Remembering Nora Kathleen Stone Conner: A Life of Love and Service
Chattanooga, TN — With heavy hearts, the community is coming together to celebrate the beautiful life of Nora Kathleen Stone Conner, who passed away peacefully on September 14, 2024. At the age of 84, Kathleen left this world surrounded by her loving family after a remarkable and courageous battle with dementia.
A Chattanooga Native
Born on August 26, 1940, to John and Nora Stone in Chattanooga, Kathleen’s roots were deeply intertwined with this vibrant city. Throughout her life, she radiated joy and warmth, making a substantial impact on everyone she met. Kathleen was not just a devoted daughter but also a lifelong learner and inspirational educator.
A Passion for Education
Her career in education spanned several institutions in the Chattanooga area, including the beloved Our Lady of Perpetual Help and East Brainerd Elementary School. Kathleen was not only an excellent teacher but also excelled in school administration. Her enthusiasm for learning did not go unnoticed, and she dedicated herself to shaping the minds and hearts of countless students.
A Life of Service
After her retirement, Kathleen’s spirit of service only expanded. She devoted her time to volunteering, offering her compassion and support to those in need. Whether it was ministering to the sick or simply being there for her family and friends, Kathleen found joy in serving others. Her unwavering faith as a longtime member of Holy Spirit Catholic Church in Soddy Daisy was an integral part of who she was and guided her each day.
A Heartfelt Goodbye
Kathleen’s family remembers her not only as a loving mother but also as a beloved grandmother, sister, and friend. She is preceded in death by her husband and soulmate, Jack Conner, as well as two of her sisters, Jeanette and Martha Stone. Now, she leaves behind a loving family who will cherish her memory for years to come.
Her daughter, Judy Conover (David), granddaughter, Olivia Jernigan (Malcolm), and sisters, Agnes Stone, Mary Ann Schenk, Ginny Ragghianti, and Barbara Wilson, along with stepchildren, step-grandchildren, great-grandchildren, nieces, and nephews, will all honor her legacy. Kathleen’s life touched so many people, creating ripples of love that will not soon fade.
Celebration of Life
To honor Kathleen’s enormous impact, the family invites the community to celebrate her life on Friday, September 20, at Our Lady of Perpetual Help, located at 501 S. Moore Road, Chattanooga, TN 37412. Visitation will be held from 10 a.m. to 12 p.m. in the Holy Family Hall, followed by a funeral mass. Her final resting place will be at Mount Olivet Cemetery.
A Thoughtful Request
The family also wishes to remind everyone of Kathleen’s generous spirit. In lieu of flowers, they kindly request donations in her honor to The Apostles of Jesus for the New Evangelization (c/o Fr. Augustine Idra, 829 Main St., North Hampton, PA 18067) or to The Alzheimer’s Association. These contributions will continue her legacy of love and support.
