Take the Scenic Route Around Chattanooga This Summer

Take the Scenic Route Around Chattanooga This Summer

Free from the hustle and bustle of the traffic, soak in some breathtaking sights as you travel around the scenic routes in Chattanooga this summer. According to Thrive Regional Partnership + the Tennessee Infrastructure Alliance, the following scenic routes in and out of the Greater Chattanooga area offer an alternative to the congested Interstate Highways, providing a serene and peaceful travel experience.

US Hwy 321 + TN State Route 320

Leave the congestion of I-24/I-75 behind, and instead traverse the scenic combination of US Highway 321 and Tennessee State Route 320. This picturesque path is ideal if you are traveling from Ooltewah to either Ringgold, GA or to downtown Chattanooga.

TN State Route 58

Offering calming views of Chickamauga Lake and Tennessee River, Tennessee State Route 58 is an ideal alternative to traffic-packed I-75. The route links downtown Chattanooga and Harrison, cutting through Decatur before meeting I-40 at Kingston.

TN State Route 318

If you are planning on driving from the St. Elmo and Lookout Mountain areas towards Wildwood, GA (or near Trenton, GA), avoid the congestion at Moccasin Bend and the usual traffic on I-24 by taking Tennessee State Route 318.

TN State Route 111 (toward Cookeville) and TN State Route 8

For those leaving from the Cleveland and Soddy-Daisy areas towards McMinnville, Tennessee State Route 111 and Tennessee State Route 8 are excellent choices. These routes allow you to bypass the I-75 / I-24 split, the rush at Missionary Ridge and the congestion at Moccasin Bend, eventually connecting you with I-24 in Manchester, TN.

Long Distance Travel through North Georgia

However, if you are planning an extended journey, an additional scenic route that cuts through North Georgia is also worth considering.

So this summer, whether you’re a visitor or a native out on vacation, CHOOSE to veer off the heavily trafficked routes and instead, embrace the tranquility and beauty of these scenic alternatives. Soak in the serenity and allow the refreshing array of Chattanooga’s natural offerings to guide your journey. Safe travels!
