Excitement Grows for Fourth Annual Seniors Got Talent Show in Knoxville
Knoxville is buzzing with excitement as the Seniors Got Talent show prepares to light up the Bijou Theatre on November 12, 2023, at 7 p.m. This delightful event, held for the fourth consecutive year, will showcase a medley of wonderful performances from 12 spirited senior contestants, each bringing their own unique twist to the stage. It’s a night dedicated to celebrating talent, community, and creativity among some of Knoxville’s most vibrant seniors!
A Celebration of Talent
This year’s show promises to be a spectacular display of diverse talents, with performers demonstrating everything from singing and dancing to comedy and magic. The participants will be striving not only for the glory of winning but also for some generous cash prizes. The grand-prize winner will walk away with a cool $1,000, while the runner-up will receive $500, and the third-place contestant will take home $250. Such rewards certainly add to the excitement and motivation for the performers!
How It Works
Contestants’ performances will be evaluated by a talented panel of judges who will look for technical ability, stage presence, professionalism, costume appearance, difficulty of their acts, and, most importantly, originality and creativity. In addition to the judges’ scores, audience members will have the unique opportunity to participate in the show’s outcome by voting for their favorite acts. Each vote costs just $1, and all proceeds will go towards the Morning Pointe Foundation, supporting nursing and college scholarships.
Meet the Hosts and Judges
Hosting the show for the third year in a row is none other than Ted Hall, the evening anchor and managing editor of a local news station. His charm and energy are sure to keep the audience engaged and entertained throughout the night. The judging panel includes Nathan McGhee, the general manager of the Bijou Theatre; Danielle Farrell, a businesswoman, author, and dancer; and Cecilia Wright, a board-certified music therapist and educator. With such qualified judges, the performances are bound to be scrutinized with an expert eye!
Tickets and Support
If you’re excited to witness this incredible show, tickets are available for just $12. You can purchase them via the Bijou Theatre website or the Morning Pointe Foundation’s site. All proceeds from ticket sales, sponsorships, and audience votes will benefit the foundation, a 501(c)(3) nonprofit dedicated to supporting seniors and funding scholarships.
A Heartfelt Mission
The Morning Pointe Foundation holds four Seniors Got Talent shows each year, extending beyond Knoxville to include Chattanooga, Franklin, and even Lexington, Kentucky. This initiative was launched in 1997 by Greg A. Vital and Franklin Farrow, and since then, Morning Pointe Senior Living has grown to operate 40 assisted living and Alzheimer’s memory care communities across five states, creating countless opportunities for seniors to thrive.
Looking Forward
This year’s event isn’t just about the competition; it’s also about community, support, and showcasing the lives of seniors who continue to inspire us with their passion and talents. It’s a warm reminder that regardless of age, creativity and joy are always present. Plus, with the addition of a new memory care community set to open in Knoxville in early 2025, the future looks bright for senior living in the area.
