Soddy-Daisy Police Chase: A Wild Ride Through the Woods

In a surprising turn of events, the peaceful town of Soddy-Daisy, Tennessee witnessed a dramatic police chase involving a stolen car early Monday morning. Just when you think you’ve seen it all, a 43-year-old man and a 64-year-old woman decided to throw caution to the wind and elude law enforcement in a high-speed escapade. Let’s dive deeper into what unfolded in this captivating story!

The Beginning of the Chase

The whole situation kicked off during a routine traffic stop on Sequoyah Road near Dayton Pike. As authorities shared in a release from the Hamilton County Sheriff’s Office, a deputy pulled over a suspicious vehicle. However, the driver had other plans! As the deputy began to search the vehicle, he decided to hit the gas and make a run for it, taking off at lightning speed.

Of course, this led to a whirlwind police chase that briefly blurred the lines between a simple traffic stop and a full-blown pursuit. The chase had to be called off owing to extreme speeds and the deputy losing sight of the vehicle, which was now racing through the roads of Soddy-Daisy.

A Mysterious Abandonment

Just moments after the chase was called off, 911 dispatchers received concerning reports about a suspicious vehicle making its way into a driveway in the 1800 block of Sequoyah Access Road. Responding deputies found the vehicle abandoned. It didn’t take long for them to put two and two together—at this point, the driver and passenger had seemingly fled into the nearby woods.

A Stolen Discovery

As the deputies pieced together the clues, their investigation revealed that the abandoned vehicle had been reported stolen from a Chattanooga apartment complex back in May. Nothing like a good mystery to keep things interesting!

The Search Teams Are Called In

Determined to track down the duo, authorities called in several search teams, including K9 units from the Soddy-Daisy Police Department. The tension was palpable as they scoured the surrounding woods, and the stakes couldn’t be higher with two fugitives on the loose.

Catch and Arrest

As the search intensified, deputies quickly located the woman passenger, Davonna Ashburn, hiding in a nearby barn. She seemed to think she’d found a safe haven, but the deputies were hot on their trail! Meanwhile, the male driver, dubbed Brandon McNeece, wasn’t as lucky. He tried to make a run for it but was apprehended after a brief foot chase.

A Troubled Past Revealed

Once in custody, investigations quickly unearthed an alarming reality. McNeece was found to have a revoked driver’s license and was reportedly evading probation from the Tennessee Department of Correction. To make matters worse, he had numerous outstanding warrants stretching across Hamilton County, Marion County, and even North Georgia.

Charged with Multiple Offenses

Brandon McNeece is now facing a laundry list of serious charges. Among them are theft of property, felony evading arrest, reckless endangerment, possession of drugs for resale (twice!), resisting arrest, and several traffic-related offenses. Talk about a track record!

Davonna Ashburn also found herself on the wrong side of the law, charged with misdemeanor evading arrest and possession of meth for resale along with related drug paraphernalia charges.

The Aftermath

The drama has certainly added a dash of excitement to a typical Monday morning in Soddy-Daisy. As the dust settles, the community is left to ponder how a routine traffic stop escalated into such chaos. Thankfully, no one was seriously harmed, but the incident serves as a reminder of how quickly things can take a turn. It’s a story that will be talked about in town for some time. Let’s hope for safer and quieter days ahead!
