Chattanooga, Tennessee – The Tennessee Valley Authority (TVA), continuously aiming to be a leader in clean energy, recently launched a novel way of generating solar energy in Chattanooga. They selected the Chickamauga Dam to spotlight their latest energy innovation, dubbed Smart Flowers. The Smart Flowers, consisting of five solar panels or solar flowers positioned at the Chickamauga Dam, serve as not just a potent source of solar energy but also a visually attractive display. TVA representatives expressed their belief that these Smart Flowers could revolutionize the way solar energy is harnessed.
The TVA’s Smart Flowers boast innovative technology to fully optimize the sun’s energy. Standing at 16 feet wide, each flower is equipped with 12 solar panels that track the sun’s movement, effectively maximizing energy capture. Aside from its tracking functionality, the Smart Flowers pack enough power to supply electricity to nearly two homes. This level of efficiency paves the way for more ubiquitous use of solar energy, not just in households, but also in schools and other urban locations.
With their new Smart Flowers, TVA lays out a vision to generate 10,000 megawatts of solar power. This is a significant step towards a cleaner, greener environment, supporting TVA’s objective to make solar power more accessible, practical, and aesthetically pleasing. The Smart Flowers project serves as one of the many solar technologies the TVA is currently developing across the Tennessee Valley. Yet, the focus remains on utilizing these Smart Flowers to foster an environment-friendly energy landscape.
The introduction of Smart Flowers in Chattanooga aims to transform the public’s perception of solar power. TVA envisions a future where solar panels not only provide clean, renewable energy but also enhance the aesthetic appeal of our surroundings. By taking a step beyond the functional use of solar energy, TVA is leading a revolution in the way we view and use this renewable source of energy.
At its core, the initiative is to establish a clean-energy lifestyle, changing the way solar power is integrated into our lives, making it not just functional but also visually pleasing. Looking ahead, TVA expects to see an increase in the adaptation of solar power within households, educational institutions, and businesses, with the ultimate goal of a greener, cleaner world.
