Heritage House Set to Screen ‘To be Takei’ Documentary on June 13

On Thursday, June 13, the Don Eaves Heritage House in Chattanooga, Tennessee, is geared up to host a screening of the acclaimed documentary, “To Be Takei” (2014), at 7 p.m. This film event is set to relaunch The Backlot: A Place for Filmmakers, an essential networking space for filmmakers in the city.

Award-Winning Documentary in Focus

“To Be Takei” is a captivating documentary that showcases the life and career of George Takei, a versatile actor famed for his role as Hikaru Sulu, the helmsman of the USS Enterprise in the classic television series “Star Trek.” Not only known for his rich acting history, Takei is also a renowned advocate for social rights, particularly those of the Asian American and LGBTQ+ communities.

Inside the event

In a special treat for fans, the event, hosted by HERE News Network, will see Keith Nolan, who worked as the Sound Recordist on “To Be Takei,” in attendance. Nolan is scheduled to share his experiences working on the documentary and provide valuable insight into sound recording techniques. Following the film’s screening, a Q&A session with Nolan will take place, offering the attendees a chance to learn more about the documentary’s making process and the compelling story of Takei’s exemplary life and career.

Heritage House opens its doors to guests at 6 p.m. ahead of the film screening. Trailers for upcoming film events at The Backlot will be shown at 6:45 p.m., leading up to Mr. Nolan’s introduction and the feature presentation at 7 p.m.
