Tanikka Nicole Brandon, A Life Full of Love and Memories, Laid to Rest

Chattanooga Mourns Loss of One of Its Own

Tanikka Nicole Brandon, a cherished member of the Chattanooga community, passed away on May 12, 2024, in a local health care facility. Born on June 5, 1979, to parents Henry Ballard and Shirley Hendrix Brown, Tanikka was known not only for her infectious joy and spirit but also for her dedication to family and love for her children and grandchildren.

Past and Passion

A proud member of the Word Empowerment Church, Tanikka was passionate about life and spent her’s doting on her loved ones. An avid dancer, she often enjoyed getting dressed up and capturing memories through photographs. Family times and celebrations were important to her, and she would always make sure that her house was clean and welcoming for her guests. Tanikka was especially known for her cooking, which brought friends and family together and created lifelong memories.

In Memoriam

She was preceded in death by her grandparents, Cloise Cox, Queenie Brooks, and William McDonald; nephew, Reginald Ballard; uncle, Paul Lavender; brother, Cornell McClendon. Niece, Amiya Hammonds also joined the stars in the sky before her.

The Family She Leaves Behind

Tanikka is survived by her mother, Shirley Brown (Roland Moorer); father, Henry Ballard; her spouse, Demetrice Brandon; and her children, Tanesha (Jamaal Watkins) Brown, Amanda Brandon (Norshawn), Tytiana (Massiyah, Sr.) Peterson, Arionna Ballard, Ace Bonner, Jr., and Asia Bonner. The love and laughter of her grandchildren, O’Shea Brown, Camori Watkins, Tamori Watkins, Jamyah Watkins, Amoura Donahue, and Massiyah Donahue, Jr., will continue to ripple throughout the community.

In addition, Tanikka leaves behind sisters, Talisha (Wayne) Bledsoe, Denise Ballard, Caprisha (Lonta) Burress, Kisha Ballard, and Wendy Calloway; brothers, James McClendon and Henry McClendon; and numerous nieces, nephews, aunts, uncles, cousins, friends, and loved ones who will continue to cherish her memories and keep her spirit alive within their hearts.

Celebrating Tanikka’s Life

A public viewing will be held from 10 a.m. until 1 p.m. on Friday, May 31, at the chapel of the Funeral Home, followed by a funeral at 1 p.m. The arrangements have been made by the John P. Franklin Funeral Home, located at 1101 Dodds Ave., Chattanooga.

The life and love of Tanikka Nicole Brandon will be remembered by many within the Chattanooga community, as her spirit and affection for those around her have left a lasting impact. Her legacy and influence will continue to resonate with the people who knew and loved her, maintaining her vibrant memory despite her untimely passing.

May Tanikka rest in peace knowing she has touched many lives and left a lasting impression on all those privileged to have known her.
