Teen Arrested in Connection to Murder Series in Chattanooga

Incident Overview

Chattanooga, TN — Police have apprehended an 18-year-old teenager suspected of being part of a group responsible for a series of recent murders in the city. Deontra D. Jackson, a resident of 3814 One Dale Trail, is now facing charges of first-degree murder, conspiracy, and reckless endangerment.

Details of the Crime

Jackson’s alleged involvement centers around a fatal shooting that took place on June 10 at the Cromwell Hills apartments. The victim, Kadarrius Coleman, was ambushed by a group of four people who were armed with rifles and pistols.

The Scene

Chattanooga Police officers responded to a report of a person shot at 3926 Juniper St. at 12:36 p.m. They found the victim inside a Chevrolet Malibu suffering from gunshot wounds and rushed him to Erlanger Hospital, where he was later pronounced dead.

The Suspects’ Actions

Footage from the apartment complex shows a maroon Hyundai Tucson arriving at Juniper Street at 12:10 p.m. The vehicle was backed into a parking spot, and the suspects waited about 20 minutes for Coleman to leave his apartment. As Coleman drove away, the four individuals exited the Tucson and opened fire on his vehicle. They quickly re-entered the vehicle and fled the scene.

Breaking Developments

Two iPhones, one rose gold and one yellow, were discovered at the scene by a detective. The rose gold iPhone was traced back to Jackson, showing multiple connections to the Tucson on the day of the murder. The Hyundai Tucson, reported stolen in the early hours of June 10, was later found burned at 3392 Provence St., three days after the crime.

Ongoing Investigation

Authorities have been rigorously investigating a series of murders that are suspected to involve members of the group associated with Jackson. Police believe the Tucson was stolen specifically for the assassination of Coleman.

Community Impact

These revelations have left the Chattanooga community in shock, raising serious concerns about public safety and the influence of organized criminal activities among youth. Law enforcement officials are urging residents to stay vigilant and report any suspicious activities.

Final Words

As the investigation continues, police are determined to dismantle the group responsible for these grievous crimes and bring justice to the families affected.
