Famed electric vehicle (EV) manufacturer, Tesla, has fully operationalized its new showroom and service center in Chattanooga. Located at the Village at Waterside development near Interstate 75 and Shallowford Road, this move signifies Tesla’s strategic move to supercharge its presence and customer service in the tri-state area.
According to Autumn Barbee, the service adviser at Tesla’s newly built location, “It’s pretty busy.” Tesla’s establishment started dispensing its services in mid-December last year, though the grand opening of this 26,870-square-foot facility occurred earlier this year. Approximately two dozen Teslas were spotted on one side of the Center on the opening day, indicating strong business activity.
Besides being a showroom, deliveries of EVs in the Chattanooga area have begun, a significant move enriching Tesla’s footprint in the area. While Tesla’s sales have largely been online, interested buyers can now visit this location to gather more information directly from an on-site adviser, helping to simplify and boost their purchase decision-making process.
“Anyone can come in and talk,” Barbee explained. She anticipates an increase in the number of cars at the location based on the ongoing demand for Tesla vehicles.
The Chattanooga showroom and service center is the only one of its kind within a 90-mile radius. This unique positioning was highlighted in a report by real estate firm Marcus & Millichap, which facilitated the sale of Tesla’s 4.27-acre lot to UAP-Elam Limited Liability Company for $12.5 million last month.
Convenience for the customers is at the heart of Tesla’s service ethos. In that line, service appointments are conveniently scheduled through an app, as stated by Barbee. The service center experiences high demand from neighboring Alabama, considering that the state prohibits the direct sale of new EVs and Tesla does not have any service centers in Alabama. Tesla also has stores in Knoxville, Franklin, and Memphis in Tennessee, and more than a half dozen sites in Georgia.
As the premier EV manufacturer in the U.S and worldwide, Tesla’s expansion with its Chattanooga facility corresponds with the predicted growth of the EV market. Despite factors like demand and charging infrastructure hindering the EV industry, J.D. Power, a data analytics company, forecasts that the EV market share will reach 12.4% in the U.S by 2024, up from 7.6% in 2023.
Tesla’s new facility, nestled amidst bustling businesses and infrastructural developments, hints at their commitment to catering to their increasing customer base and upholding Tesla’s top-dog reputation in the EV industry.
