Chattanooga musicians, this is your chance to shine! NPR Music is accepting submissions for the Tiny Desk Contest, with a deadline of February 10. Local artists have made a mark in the past, and now is the time for you to showcase your unique style. Help spread the word and support talented musicians in our community!
Hey, Chattanooga! Musicians around town, listen up! The clock is ticking, and you have a fantastic opportunity knocking at your door. NPR Music is on the hunt for unsigned artists from across the U.S., and they want to hear your music. The Tiny Desk Contest is open for submissions, but you need to act fast because the deadline is coming up on February 10.
If you’ve ever dreamed of performing in an intimate setting that’s all about the music, then this contest is for you. By entering, you could win a Tiny Desk performance, join NPR Music’s tour, and receive mentorship that could help kick-start your career in the music industry. It’s a golden chance to showcase your talent and get noticed!
In past years, winners have hailed from all over the country, including states like Utah, Massachusetts, Alaska, and Virginia. This brings a big possibility for Chattanooga musicians—imagine making your mark alongside these incredible artists!
Now, before you start filming a fully produced music video, take a moment. Remember, the contest focuses more on the laid-back vibe of your performance, which is what Tiny Desk is all about. Simple, authentic recordings that reflect your unique style will give you a better chance to stand out.
Chattanooga had some local submissions last year, and our artists left a beautiful impression. Wouldn’t it be amazing to see even more of our talented musicians throw their hats in the ring this year? We sure think so!
Here’s an idea: If you know a local artist who makes your heart sing, why not give them a little nudge? Community members are encouraged to nominate musicians for submission by that same deadline, February 10. Let’s rally together and make sure Chattanooga shines brightly in this contest!
While we’re on the subject of community spirit, have you heard the news about the Festive Forest celebration coming to Miller Park? Hosted by the Better Business Bureau, this event is inspired by Huntsville’s Tinsel Trail design and will feature 80 decorated trees! The forest will be lit up starting on November 27 and will dazzle visitors until January 2, 2025. Volunteers are needed to help unload the trees on November 20 at 10 a.m., so if you’re looking to spread some cheer, this is a great way to pitch in!
As we turn the calendar, October brings all sorts of spooky excitement to Chattanooga. Get ready for events like Boo in the Zoo, where kids can enjoy candy, decorations, and activities galore. Don’t miss Troops & Treats at the National Medal of Honor Heritage Center, which has free activities for everyone. Each weekend is set to deliver plenty of fun, from the “Spooky Skate” at Chatt Town Skate Park to Oddstory Brewing Co.’s Halloween Bash featuring live music and costumes.
Plus, there’s SnapFest: Fright Night at Walnut Street Bridge and Coolidge Park—talk about a festive atmosphere! And if you’re a fan of themed parties and creative costumes, you’ll find plenty to do around town all month long.
Let’s not forget about the big athletes coming to town for the Ironman 70.3 Competition. Over 1,700 competitors will be showcasing their talent soon, and there will be designated spectator zones so you can cheer them on. Be aware that several roads will be closed from May 15 to May 20, including some additional closures on race days.
For those looking to avoid the hustle and bustle, consider dining at the Side Track Restaurant in Hixson—it’s a great way to steer clear of traffic while still enjoying the vibes of the event.
So, whether you’re a musician, a festival-goer, or just love the buzz of community spirit, Chattanooga has something for you! Get ready to hop on the Tiny Desk Contest, don your best Halloween gear, and cheer on our athletes as they hit the streets. It’s going to be an exciting time in our great city!
