In a thrilling tribute to the classic brunch cocktail, Chattanooga Market is set to host the much-anticipated Top Tomato Festival this Sunday, July 14th. The festival, a fan-favorite event each year, will spotlight the humble tomato, a pivotal ingredient in the Bloody Mary concoction.
Between 11am and 4pm, six local restaurants will be putting their creative spins on the popular cocktail at the First Horizon Pavilion. Patrons have the opportunity to savor a variety of enhanced Bloody Mary styles offered by establishments well-respected for their beverage prowess, including the 2023 Judge’s Choice and People’s Choice winners, Southside Social and New York Pizza Department, respectively. Other participants stirring up their best Bloody Mary renditions are Stir Chattanooga, Daily Ration, Riverport Grille, and the Old Gillman Grill.
For a donation of $15, festival-goers can enjoy tastings at each of the restaurants vying for the “Top Tomato” title. Each ticket holder has the added privilege of voting for the best Bloody Mary “People’s Choice”, levels the playing field for a panel of judges casting their vote as well.
Thanks to Tito’s Vodka sponsorship, all ticket sale proceeds will go to the Finley Stadium Foundation, a move signaling Chattanooga Market’s commitment to supporting local community development initiatives. For those preferring non-alcoholic options, the festival ensures availability upon request.
Adding an artistic edge to the culinary competition is a unique, handmade trophy that awaits the winning restaurant of the People’s Choice category. Local artist and regular Chattanooga Market vendor, Allen Hampton, created this one-of-a-kind award, ensuring a heartfelt link to the local artisan community.
Beyond the cocktail clinking and tomato tributes, festival attendees can gear up for a musical treat on the Lodge Cast Iron Sizzle Stage. Emerald Butler is set to take the stage at 12:30pm, followed by The Shade Trees at 2:00pm. The performances promise to provide a perfect rhythmic backdrop to the day’s savory libations.
As Chattanooga Market prepares to host a celebration of tomatoes and ingenious Bloody Mary builds, it’s not just about the drinks. The Top Tomato Festival signals a beloved community gathering, where good food and drink intertwine with local commerce and philanthropy. From the local restaurants competing to win over taste buds, to the artistic trophy signifying community spirit, to the live music echoing through the pavilion, the festival embodies a spirit of unity and shared pleasure within Chattanooga.
Whether you’re a Bloody Mary aficionado or simply someone who appreciates a vibrant community gathering, the Top Tomato Festival at Chattanooga Market serves up a delightful mix of flavors and entertainment to relish in this summer.
