Traffic Changes on Frazier Avenue: What You Need to Know

Chattanooga, you’re in for some changes on Frazier Avenue as exciting improvements are underway! Recently, the paving contractor wrapped up the pavement milling work, and the resurfacing process has officially kicked off. This is a big step forward and will help to enhance both safety and traffic flow along this busy stretch of road.

Current Developments

Officials have stated that temporary striping is now in place on the newly paved portions, but don’t be surprised to see traffic control devices, like cones and drums, in areas where additional work still needs to be done. It’s a bit of a work in progress, so if you’re driving around, make sure to stay alert as surveyors will be on-site marking out the exact spots for the final striping.

Temporary Street Closures

On the bright side, today marks a busy day for the side streets! Crews will be paving Delmont Street, Forest Avenue, Tremont Street, Woodland Avenue, and Tampa Street. However, this will result in temporary closures of these routes, which shouldn’t last too long. Don’t worry if you encounter a detour – there will be flaggers present to guide you to alternative routes smoothly. It’s all part of the process to make our streets better!

New Traffic Patterns

If you frequent Frazier Avenue, you’ll notice two new traffic patterns have now been implemented on each end of the avenue. Adjusting to these changes may take a little time, so be mindful of your speed and surroundings as everyone gets used to the new layout.

Anticipated Completion

Looking ahead, all paving should be wrapped up by Thursday evening, with the last of the temporary striping and permanent signage expected to be installed by Friday. It’s an exciting time as we all look forward to a smoother and safer roadway experience.

A Tragic Incident and Its Aftermath

For context, these improvements come on the heels of a tragic incident last November when a vehicle mounted the curb at Frazier and Forrest, tragically resulting in the loss of two lives and critically injuring a third family member. In light of this, the city took swift action, launching a study of the busy North Chattanooga stretch to identify how to bolster safety for all. These paving efforts are a significant part of that initiative.

Community Safety First

As always, the safety of residents and visitors remains a priority. With these renovations, officials hope to create a more accessible and secure environment for everyone traveling through the area. So, whether you’re headed to work, running errands, or just enjoying a drive, keeping neighbors safe on the roads is essential.

Stay Informed

As the city continues its journey towards better infrastructure, staying informed is key! Keep an ear to the ground for updates, and don’t hesitate to reach out if you have any questions regarding the resurfacing project or traffic adjustments. It’s all part of working together to make our wonderful Chattanooga a better place to live.

So, keep your eyes peeled, drive safely, and watch for those flaggers as you navigate the area! Let’s work together to ensure that these changes lead to bright and safe travel days ahead for our community!
