Small and innocent, yet battling against life-threatening injuries, a young puppy named Zander found himself at the centre of attention late Wednesday night. Lying wounded on the side of the road after being hit by a car, Zander’s fate took a turn for the better when a good Samaritan discovered him and drew him back to safety.
Showing compassion amidst a heart-wrenching scene, the family who found Zander “kept him as comfortable as possible despite the excruciating pain he was in,” according to a release from the authorized animal welfare. In short time, the young pup was rushed to a nearby veterinarian for immediate care.
Despite being in intense discomfort, the valiant young pup held out remarkably well. Zander permitted the handling, poking, and prodding of his severe wounds, exhibiting nerve and spirit that belie his tender age. Unfortunately, his diagnosis revealed deep cuts, traumatic road rash, and fractures that bared his bones to the world. Disturbingly, the pup’s body bore “mysterious wounds” that neither his saviors nor his medical caregivers could account for.
Today, Zander remains confined to the medical facility, his condition critical but stable. Given his extensive injuries, a long road to recovery permeates the horizon. It is anticipated that the brave pup would require an array of medicinal aids, including antibiotics and other relevant treatments. To hasten his recovery, several surgeries may also be necessitated.
In light of Zander’s circumstance, a public appeal was made for donations for his medical care. ‘This sweet pup is allowing us to give him all the love, but we can only continue to care for him with you by our side,’ as per the release.
